First…
Founded on May 15, 1851, Alpha Delta Pi is the oldest secret society for college women in the world. Alpha Delta Pi was established at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, which appropriately was also the first college chartered to grant degrees to women in the world.
Alpha Delta Pi was originally named “The Adelphean Society,” originating from the Greek word “Adelphean” meaning “sister.”

Finest…
Across the nation, ADPis are intelligent, fun-loving, loyal young women who share the special bond of sisterhood. The qualifications for membership have remained unchanged throughout
the years:  scholarship, high principles, and true friendship.  Since our founding at the University of South Carolina in 1928, the Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Delta Pi has upheld a reputation of excellence and integrity. Year after year, the sisters of Beta Epsilon stand out as
a sorority on campus and also as an accomplished international Alpha Delta Pi chapter. Alpha Delta Pi has been number one in grades for 14 of the last 16 semesters on campus at the University of South Carolina. The Beta Epsilon Chapter has also been the recipient of the Maxine Blake Golden Lion Award for the past 7 years, the highest award given by the Alpha Delta Pi International Organization. We are actively involved with our international philanthropy, The Ronald McDonald House, as there is a Ronald McDonald House located right here in Columbia! By competing in events such as Homecoming, Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, and Running for a Cause, Alpha Delta Pi remains an active organization not only on campus at the University of South Carolina, but throughout the city of Columbia.

Forever…
The principles established by our founders in 1851 are enduring standards exemplifying the highest ideals of Christian womanhood. Our creed states that Alpha Delta Pi is more than a ritual and more than a symbol: that it is a way of life. Alpha Delta Pi is something you are, not just something you become.  At the University of South Carolina, by living this motto our lives are enriched by true friendships and unselfish service to our community. We live for each other, and Alpha Delta Pi.

Alpha Delta Pi's official flower is the Woodland Violet. These flowers have an extraordinary lifespan, and continue to grow and prosper throughout the years, just as our members do!

Diamonds represent purity, and the four corners of the diamond shape represent the symmetry of a balanced existence. We allow our members to sparkle and shine naturally, just as diamonds do!

The lion serves as Alpha Delta Pi's official mascot. Our lion is nicknamed Alphie. Lions are a symbol of beauty and strength, and this mascot urges our members to achieve their best each and every day, as well as hold strength of character in the highest regard.
